Start with the model, fitted head, and market. We show the maker’s published line limits, then keep unknown combinations blank until there is a source for them.
Nominal conversions use 25.4 mm per inch. Manufacturer limits decide fit.
Coverage is specific, not universal.Forty-eight model/head records span US, Canadian, North American, and UK sources, including eight ECHO Speed-Feed 400 model mappings and 11 exact Greenworks replacement-spool model/SKU mappings. This remains a partial catalog, not a brand-wide compatibility chart. A missing model or replacement head is not a match.

We will only show a size when a manufacturer source identifies the selected model/head combination.
Reverse lookup
Have the part number already?
Search a manufacturer part number to see the exact tool models, heads, and markets listed in our verified part records.
Search a part number
Enter the complete manufacturer number and choose the market where the tool was sold.
01 · MEASURE
Convert the label, compare the spool.
Enter a printed diameter in inches or millimeters. This converts units; it cannot identify an unmarked line or prove fit.
CONVERTED DIAMETER—Enter the value shown on the line package.
Conversion is mathematical only. Trimmer line may have manufacturing tolerances and non-round profiles; use the package/manual spec for fit.
02 · TRIAGE
Line keeps breaking?
Answer what you observe. The checklist separates setup checks from compatibility questions; it does not diagnose a fault.
Start safely
Stop the tool and follow its manual before inspecting. Do not test a thicker size to find out.
Line will not advance, retracts, or jams after reload?
Choose the closest symptom. These general checks are not a diagnosis; the exact model/head manual takes precedence.
Use the exact manual before inspecting
Stop the tool and follow the exact manual’s shutdown steps before opening or handling the head. Feed systems differ; this general checklist does not identify a compatible line or part.
A brand-wide chart can blend machines with different spools and limits. Match the exact label and manual edition for your market.
B
Installed head
One tool family may accept multiple attachments. The fitted head can narrow the line shape, diameter, and loading method.
C
Symptoms are not permission to upsize
Owners report considering thicker line after repeated breakage. A larger diameter can exceed the manufacturer limit or increase load. Find the cause safely before changing line.
D
Region and manual version
US and Canadian listings, SKU suffixes, and manuals may diverge. If your tag or manual conflicts with this index, follow the exact applicable manual and report the mismatch.
Use the size specified for your exact trimmer model and installed head. The same diameter is not approved for every machine. Start with the lookup above, then confirm against the manual linked in the result.
Will thicker weed eater string stop it from breaking?
Not necessarily. Thick line can exceed a tool’s published limit and increase motor or head load. Breakage at hard surfaces is different from line failing inside the head. Check the manual and follow the troubleshooting steps before changing diameter.
Why do US and Canadian line recommendations differ?
Model names, SKU suffixes, attachments, and manuals can vary by market and production revision. This preview only displays records for the selected market where we found an applicable official source. Follow the manual supplied for your serial/model variant if it differs.
What is the difference between loading line and feeding line?
Loading puts fresh line into the spool or head. Feeding, advancing, or releasing line changes how much line extends during use. Names such as LOAD N’ GO or POWERLOAD do not tell you every step or behavior across models; confirm the exact installed head and manual. Read the loading and feed-system guide ↗
How can I tell whether my line is 0.080 or 0.095 inch?
Read the package first. If you are measuring loose line, use a suitable caliper at several points and treat the result as approximate, especially for twisted or shaped profiles. Do not assume color corresponds to diameter.
Does the lookup cover every head for each model?
No. Each record names the exact model and a head description supported by its cited source. If your installed head does not match the record, do not apply the displayed specification to it.
Can I use metal or wire line?
Only use cutting materials explicitly approved by the manual for your model and head. Some manuals prohibit metal and reinforced line. This index is for documented nylon line options and will not recommend wire.
Method & source notes
Every fitment needs a trail.
Published limits below come from manufacturer manuals or model-specific product support pages. Model-index entries show the region and source type; check your manual's revision and serial applicability before acting. Latest records were checked on October 20, 2026. Each record carries its own check date; older sources may have been checked earlier.
