String trimmer line size: how to choose the right one
The right string trimmer line size is the one the manual names for the head fitted to your trimmer. Of the 50 models in this reference that list Canada as a market, 19 list 1.65 mm (0.065 in), 29 list 2.03 mm (0.080 in) and 27 list 2.41 mm (0.095 in).

Thicker is not better. Line thicker than the head allows can jam the spool, overload the motor and wear the eyelet. Use the size the manual gives, not the thickest the head will hold.
Find your size in four steps
- Read the model number on the tool label, not the box or the battery.
- Identify the head that is fitted: factory spool, bump-feed head or a replacement.
- Check the line diameter and shape the manual gives for that head.
- Buy that size, or the replacement spool the manual names.
