About Line Ledger

Line Ledger is an independent reference for matching string trimmer line to a particular tool, market and installed cutting head. It is not run, endorsed or sponsored by any trimmer or line manufacturer, and it does not sell line, spools or heads.

What a record is

Each record covers one model with one head in one market. It states the line diameter and shape the manufacturer gives for that combination, the replacement spool or head part numbers where a source names them, the manufacturer page or manual the values came from, and the date the record was last checked. When no source covers a combination, the lookup says so instead of guessing, and a record from another market is never presented as a fit.

How records are made

Values come from operator manuals and from manufacturer product or support pages, and each is copied as the source states it. Where two sources disagree, the manual is preferred over a product page and the difference is noted on the record. Before a release, a source check compares every recorded value with the page it cites and flags any that cannot be confirmed; values it cannot confirm, for example because a site blocks automated access, are listed with the reason instead of being silently accepted.

Limits you should know

The catalogue is partial by design: a model that is missing is not a match. Manufacturers change specifications between production runs and regions, so the rating plate and the manual supplied with your tool come first. Estimates, forum posts and retailer listings are not used as the basis for a size.

Translations and corrections

Regional and non-English editions are translated from the English source and have had an automated editorial review, not a review by native-speaking technicians, so wording can still be improved. Records show their checked date, and when a source changes the record is re-checked and the date updated. The feedback prompt shown after a lookup lets you say whether a result helped and add a short comment about one that looks wrong or missing.
